Hannah Bedford Granulated Jewellery – New at Plush Jewellery

Hannah Bedford Silver Granulated Cuff

Hannah Bedford Silver Granulated Cuff

Hannah Bedford’s gorgeous granulated jewellery can now be found at Plush Jewellery in Chichester and online at www.plushjewellery.co.uk/hannahbedford.asp.
Hannah Bedford graduated from the prestigious Birmingham School of Jewellery with a first class honours degree in 2004 and has been represented at Collect and exhibited at Origin. Her studio is at Cockpit Arts Deptford, the heart of South London’s creative community.
Hannah Bedford jewellery designs explore texture and form using the traditional processes of granulation and Keum-boo (fine gold fusing). Working in golds and silver, Hannah Bedford creates a range of women’s jewellery, from bespoke neckpieces through to delicate earrings and rings.
Collections are inspired by organic growth patterns in the natural world. Hannah Bedford uses gold fusing and granulation to create raised, textured surfaces that entwine each piece and takes great care to work on the underside of a piece. The work is often led by these technical explorations, using them to play with scale, form and contrasting precious metals to create aesthetically beautiful forms.

Zelda Wong Jewellery, Now Showing at Plush Jewellery

Those of you who have been with us for a while will already know the fantastic jewellery created by Zelda Wong; those of you who are new to Plush Jewellery are in for a treat.

Zelda Wong jewellery is unique botanical silver jewellery, inspired by a variety of sources both organic and contemporary. The concept of Zelda Wong jewellery is to preserve the fragile beauty of flowers, so they become everlasting.
Sixteen years living in Yorkshire and the Midlands, Zelda Wong quickly fell in love with the English countryside and gardens. In summer everything is so lively and beautiful, but sadly English summers are often short, Zelda’s designs of botanical forms, try to capture the everlasting beauty of flowers and plants. Zelda Wong started to make delicate silver flowers during 1999, for her degree design, based on body jewellery and needed some pretty objects to accompany the pieces, so she started to use metal to make different types of flowers, such as Primula, Poppy, Daisy and Lily. As she dislikes wasting things, Zelda decided to transform the aesthetic flowers that served no purpose into wearable jewellery. A bit like flowers that self-seed and begin life again somewhere else, later becoming her ever popular Primula rage.
Zelda Wong, originally from Macau, moved to England sixteen years ago, now works in the West Midlands. She graduated with Honours in Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University.
Zelda Wong set up her jewellery design business in 2004, with a grant from UK Steel Enterprise and a Loan from Prince’s Trust.

Sara Preisler Sterling Silver and 24ct Gold Plate Within Pendant

We’re now showing work by the brilliant Brimingham jewellery designer Sara Preisler. We have work from two of Sara’s collections, the Sara Preisler Within Collection and the Sara Preisler Ripples Collection.

About Sara Preisler
Jewellery by Sara Preisler is essentially sculputure with a function. Each piece of jewellery in the Sara Preisler collections provokes the idea that, though each of us are based on the same model, (the human form), we are in some way unique.
The forms and textures used by Sara Preisler in each piece echo the wood carver’s chisel, in repeating bold and minimal forms, she often reveals defined sculptural elements; carved identities, each in their own right echoing the wearer as being in their own irreplaceable essence.
To Sara Preisler, the importance of her collections is in expressing the individual wearer’s spirit and beauty, allowing ownership of something unique and especially part of every one.

View and purchase Sara’s work over on the Plush Jewellery website http://plushjewellery.co.uk/sarapreisler.asp or if you are in the Chichester area pop into Plush Jewellery Chichester to see the work in person.

Bespoke Wedding Bands

Bespoke Wedding Bands

Bespoke Wedding Bands

We’ve joined forces with a team of wonderful engagement and wedding band specialists based in The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham to bring you an incredible selection of wedding rings.

Why do we believe that our wedding bands are the best wedding bands available?
Well, here’s the science bit:
These bands are manufactured from seamless tube, this makes the metal more compact and flawless resulting in no porosity, a higher resistance to scratching and consistent profile shapes.
The traditional issues associated with white gold have been resolved in these rings by producing a white alloy which removes the need to rhodium-plate the rings. Only the highest quality materials with high palladium content are used. The white gold used in these rings has been officially tested and certified as Premium Grade 1 metal by Birmingham Assay Office.
Each band is hand polished by skilled craftsmen.

We are able to offer you a choice of seven different profiles, each available in a choice of six different metals with up to eight different width choices and up to three different weights. We can add a Diamond cut pattern to any of our plain bands and are able to offer you the option of engraving a personal message inside your band.

Shaped wedding bands designed to fit perfectly around your engagement ring can also be handmade to give you a unique wedding ring which is personal to you.

Oh, and don’t forget the handmade wedding bands and engagement rings created by the designers we’re lucky enough to work with, including James Newman and Deborah Kelly.

For more information, guidance or to arrange an appointment to discover how we can help you create your perfect wedding ring, please call us on 01243 778424.

Tara Kirkpatrick designs and makes jewellery from her gallery in Knutsford, Cheshire. She’s the latest designer to join us here at Plush Jewellery and we’re delighted to bring you her Droplets Collection – icicles slowly warmed in the low winter sun, gradually melt to form glistening beads inspiring Tara Kirkpatrick’s cascading silver jewellery.

These pieces of jewellery are fabulously tactile, the silver droplets tumble while you wear them, reflecting the light as you move.

Two Go Mad in Birmingham

It’s a tradition here at Plush Towers, at the beginning of every February we pack up and head northwards for a couple of days of shopping and catching up with jewellery designers and old chums.

Another tradition is the pre-journey fuel up at McDonalds – nothing like a Hash Brown to set you up for the day.

Mmmmmm McDonalds

We’ve been going to Spring Fair for a few years now and with experience you work out that it really is a good idea to remember which of the many car parks you’ve left the car in and more importantly which entrance you use to get into the NEC. It also helps to ‘have a plan’ as the show is so vast there just isn’t time to see it all.

Day one plan: work out who’s where and what’s what. As always, these carefully laid plans quickly scatter to the wind due to the distraction of the sheer shininess of all the jewellery on display. We did catch up with; amongst others, Hazel Atkinson, who has added to her stunning ranges of anodised aluminium jewellery *coming soon* and Juli Miller of Jules Jules whose new ranges using combinations of materials are fabulous *coming soon*.

The View from Our Luxury Accommodation

Day two plan: be distracted by new gorgeous jewellery. It goes without saying that this plan works out much better that the more constrained plan of day one. As a result we’ve got some fantastic news about bespoke engagement rings and wedding bands to bring you soon, keep your eyes open *coming soon*. We passed the Catwalk sponsored by Pandora and spotted the VIP area.

VIP Area - Compact and bijou, Mostyn, compact and bijou

Day three plan: have a good old nose around The Jewellery Quarter and drop in on a couple of designer chums. The Jewellery Quarter is a great place for a mooch about if you are at all interested in jewellery, though on cold day in February with bitter winds it does turn into a slightly swifter mooch than on a nice summer’s day. We caught up with Collette Waudby in her workshop where she was working on pieces from her new Butterfly collection *coming soon*, for anyone already familiar with Collette’s work, you are going to love these new pieces as much as we do.

Collette Waudby - A jeweller in her environment

So, three days in Birmingham and lots of new and exciting things coming to Plush Jewellery in the very near future. All in all a jolly good road trip.

…Nicer Things – Alyssa Smith Jewellery

Alyssa Smith Jewellery - Tweethearts, Love Birds Necklace

Alyssa Smith Jewellery - Tweethearts, Love Birds Necklace

We’ve been joined at Plush Jewellery but another incredibly talented young jewellery designer maker, Alyssa Smith. As with all of the jewellery designer makers we work with, Alyssa Smith’s work is gorgeous, wearable and just that little bit different.

About Alyssa Smith
Jewellery has always been Alyssa’s passion. From a young age she was creatively minded and determined to learn as much as possible about jewellery and began selling her jewellery in a local independent gift shop. She know from that point onwards that all she wanted to do was create beautiful jewellery and see women enjoying wearing it.
Alyssa Smith creates intricate yet bold jewellery designs in silver, often characterised with drilled patterns and combined with gemstones, Swarovski crystals and fresh water pearls. Heavily influenced by fashion trends, Alyssa Smith creates one piece and develops a whole collection around this theme, using colour to add personality and sparkle to each piece. Alyssa aims to create fashionable yet timeless jewellery which can be work now and in years to come.
After graduating with a degree in Jewellery design and marketing, she created “Alyssa Smith Jewellery”. Her philosophy is simple. She loves to create beautiful jewellery full of sparkles and loveliness to make women feel fabulous no matter what the occasion; whether it’s for spicing up everyday life with some colourful earrings, a confidence boost with a striking piece for an important interview, or adding understated sophistication for a special evening.

My particular favourite pieces that Alyssa Smith has sent us are Alyssa Smith Tweethearts Necklace – Lovebirds, Alyssa Smith Tweethearts Necklace – Home Tweet Home and Alyssa Smith Dark Side Necklace.

Pop over to the website and have a look.
