Nancy Rose Jewellery – New Jewellery Designer for September

Nancy Rose Jewellery is the creation of Nancy Shepherd, who since 2007 has designed exquisite small quantities and limited editions of ready-to-wear jewellery for the style conscious and those with an eye for quality design.
Nancy’s first collection launched in Autumn/Winter 2007 with great success and her work is backed up by over eight years of preparation and study of the art of jewellery making. Her techniques include traditional silversmithing methods and she creates all of her pieces in her workshop, a converted barn in Kent.
Because Nancy Rose Jewellery’s creations are only made in small quantities, each piece is a one of a kind to treasure.

Charlotte Verity – New Jewellery Designer for September

Salford based Charlotte Verity is a designer-maker of contemporary art jewellery, specialising in silver smithing and small scale hot glass techniques.
Her current collection combines hollow, blown glass bubbles with sterling silver multilink chains and finger rings.
With regards to this ‘Bubble’ collection, each glass bubble is blown individually, by hand, using a gas torch. The bubbles are sealed and may then be painted with a lustre and fired to leave a layer of precious metal, either Gold or Platinum, or a transparent colour, permanently adhered to the surface. Lastly, all the bubbles are annealed in a digital kiln to ensure strength and durability. The silver elements of each piece are soldered for security, and are then polished to a high shine, given a matte finish, or oxidised to dramatically darken the silver. These pieces are produced in limited numbers, and no two pieces will ever be identical.

Kayleigh Biggs – New Jewellery Designer for September

Recent graduate Kayleigh Biggs is a designer-maker and specialising in jewellery with an evident historical influence. Her work has been informed by studying a range of materials and processes. Kayleigh merges metals, found objects, and textiles to create bespoke jewellery. She uses traditional metalwork techniques alongside computer methods. Kayleigh says that the aesthetics are important to her, but she also wants her work to be functional so that people can enjoy wearing it too.

The themes that run throughout Kayleigh Biggs practice are; nostalgic narratives, re-using disregarded materials and the decorative.

Lots and Lots of New Things

Where has Monday gone to dear reader? One minute it was 9am and now the clock has passed five! There are a tremendous number of lovely new things to make you aware of this week.

Firstly, we’ve four brand new designers showing with us here at Plush Jewellery at the moment; Juliette Lowe, Nancy Rose Jewellery, Charlotte Verity Jewellery and Kayleigh Biggs, you can pop in to Plush Jewellery Chichester and view all this gorgeous jewellery right now, it will all be viewable online on the Plush Jewellery website in the next day or so.

Secondly, we popped up to IJL at Earls Court yesterday for a catch-up with some of our fantastic designers and to see what’s new in the way of contemporary jewellery. Keep and eye out at Plush in the not to distant future for the brand new range by the fab Collette Waudby, gorgeous rabbits and tiny wrens by Alexis Dove, stunning new Cones by Tara Kirkpatrick and we’re completely bloopingly excited that we’re soon going to be stocking brilliant jewellery by Flash Jordan – seriously, you have to see the Flash Jordan earrings, they are magnificent.

Don’t forget to put the 25th in your diary and come into Plush Chichester for our first Meet the Designer day. Kimberley Selwood has told us that she’s bringing all of her ranges with her, a perfect excuse to check out pieces you haven’t seen before.
