The Beginning of a New Chapter

Does anyone actually like Monday mornings? The week stretches out before you like the Mote Carlo Rally, all uphills and bendy. For us at Plush, today was a different kind of Monday morning; for the first time in nearly six years there wasn’t a Plush Jewellery shop to open to the eager shoppers of Chichester. At 17:30 on Saturday 28th we turned the Open sign to Closed for the last time.

Our final week was fun and emotional; so many old friends took the time to pop in and see us and wish us luck for the coming year. It was lovely to see everyone and it’s especially nice to remember that Plush Jewellery has touched so many more lives than just ours. While the shop may be closed (actually I’m sitting in the shop writing this blog post, so there’s still some Plush Jewelleryness in Baffins Lane today) we’re segueing into our 2012 plans with little pause for breath (or the chance to spend a week watching daytime telly in pyjamas) more information on that to come.

Right, this tax return won’t file itself.

May your week be mostly downhill and sunny.

Best

Allie

Apologies For the Break in Communication

Hello Everybody,

I hope this posting finds you all well and enjoying the Summertime? I thought I should pop up today and apologise for the lack in communicaiton for the past month. I managed to clonk myself on the noggin a few weeks ago and quickly learnt that concussion made keeping up with the day-to-day posting of blogs, tweets, facebook updates and posterous postings rather difficult (some of the texts I sent to familiars and loved ones recently have been somewhat ‘interesting’). Sufficient to say, that by posting this today; I’m back on form.

Allie 🙂

So many new things have arrived at Plush since we last spoke: fabulous packages have arrived from Sonya Bennett and Hannah Bedford (my next job is to ensure that those of you who can’t pop in to see these gorgeous pieces in person can see them over at http://www.plushjewellery.co.uk)

The Peregrines Are Back at Chichester Cathedral – you can watch them live…

…and you don’t have to climb up the tower to see them, they have their own webcam. http://www.rspb.org.uk/webcams/birdsofprey/chichester.aspx

Also,

“From Wednesday 13th April the RSPB will be based at the Cathedral for its Date with Nature project, offering visitors a rare chance to watch the birds at close range without disturbing them.  Visitors will be able to view images from the nest, and use binoculars and telescopes to watch the birds flying and perching on the pinnacles and turrets of the Cathedral.

At first, the project will be based at the Cloisters Café.  At the end of May, when the young start to learn to fly, the RSPB will move out to the Cathedral Green, in front of the Cathedral.  The project runs until 10th July, and entrance to the Cathedral and use of the viewing equipment are free of charge.” Read more over at the Peregrines at Chichester Cathedral page on the Chichester Cathedral website and over at the RSPB A Date With Nature page.

That Bit Between Christmas and New Year

It should have a name really shouldn’t it? Those days that strech out between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve. If you find yourself working, that time has a sort of, run up to the holidays feel about it – no real point getting stuck into anything new as there’s another Bank Holiday looming up on the horizon. If you’re at home or visiting family and friends it’s a long round of eating lovely things, relaxing, hitting the sales and maybe taking in a bracing walk or two to burn off a few of those calories. This year has an extra layer of time off madness attached to it what with Christmas Day (and subsequently New Year’s Day) falling on a Saturday; this has activated all sorts of ‘substitiute day’ bank holidays on Mondays and Tuesdays, frankly I was considering going into hibernation until the end of January.

Hibernation hasn’t happened though, we’re here and already planning some exciting things for 2011. If you don’t already subscribe to our newsletter, get over to www.plushjewellery.co.uk and register as there’s going to be subscriber only offers happening and I wouldn’t want you to miss out on.

Anyways, hope you’re enjoying that bit between Christmas and New Year.

Bestest

Allie 🙂
