Lots and Lots of New Things

Where has Monday gone to dear reader? One minute it was 9am and now the clock has passed five! There are a tremendous number of lovely new things to make you aware of this week.

Firstly, we’ve four brand new designers showing with us here at Plush Jewellery at the moment; Juliette Lowe, Nancy Rose Jewellery, Charlotte Verity Jewellery and Kayleigh Biggs, you can pop in to Plush Jewellery Chichester and view all this gorgeous jewellery right now, it will all be viewable online on the Plush Jewellery website in the next day or so.

Secondly, we popped up to IJL at Earls Court yesterday for a catch-up with some of our fantastic designers and to see what’s new in the way of contemporary jewellery. Keep and eye out at Plush in the not to distant future for the brand new range by the fab Collette Waudby, gorgeous rabbits and tiny wrens by Alexis Dove, stunning new Cones by Tara Kirkpatrick and we’re completely bloopingly excited that we’re soon going to be stocking brilliant jewellery by Flash Jordan – seriously, you have to see the Flash Jordan earrings, they are magnificent.

Don’t forget to put the 25th in your diary and come into Plush Chichester for our first Meet the Designer day. Kimberley Selwood has told us that she’s bringing all of her ranges with her, a perfect excuse to check out pieces you haven’t seen before.

Right, back to the grindstone.

Kimberley Selwood Engagement and Wedding Rings – In Store Showcase

We’re trememdously excited to announce that award-winning jewellery designer Kimberley Selwood is showcasing her Everlasting Signature range of engagement and wedding rings with us here at Plush Jewellery until the end of September.

Kimberley Selwood will be making a personal appearance at Plush Jewellery in Chichester on Saturday 25th September 2010 where you’ll have the opportunity to meet one of British jewellery’s brightest and fastest rising stars and see a wider range of her work. If you’d like to arrange an appointment to discuss commissioning your engagement and wedding rings with Kimberley, please call us on 01243 778424

Kimberley Selwood’s work will already be familiar to many of you through her Butterfly Effect collection; you can view the Kimberley Selwood Butterfly Effect collection over on the Plush Jewellery website here and her design aesthetics can be seen throughout the Everlasting Signature range.

Kimberley says of Everlasting Signature:
“The Solitaire Engagement ring with a half carat diamond is set on a subtle and delicate wave that allows the enhancement of the diamond and for it to be prominent and distinctive. The wedding band mirrors the beautiful wave of the engagement ring and can be worn either above or below the diamond; allowing the wearer to be creative. The moment of getting engaged will be treasured forever, with these stunning rings Kimberley wants to make the memory last forever, combining versatility and elegance. The graceful curvature, and understated setting, means the shape and form of the rings are paramount, allowing the variable nature of the rings to be key.

Using this design the ring is truly yours, unique and as special as you. Add diamonds, matt or polished finishes, perhaps combine the cool crisp colour of platinum, with the warmth and depth of rose or yellow gold. Centralise the diamond, have a wave either side above or below, the choice is ultimately yours. Have fun, be versatile and everlasting.”

Sara Preisler Sterling Silver and 24ct Gold Plate Within Pendant

We’re now showing work by the brilliant Brimingham jewellery designer Sara Preisler. We have work from two of Sara’s collections, the Sara Preisler Within Collection and the Sara Preisler Ripples Collection.

About Sara Preisler
Jewellery by Sara Preisler is essentially sculputure with a function. Each piece of jewellery in the Sara Preisler collections provokes the idea that, though each of us are based on the same model, (the human form), we are in some way unique.
The forms and textures used by Sara Preisler in each piece echo the wood carver’s chisel, in repeating bold and minimal forms, she often reveals defined sculptural elements; carved identities, each in their own right echoing the wearer as being in their own irreplaceable essence.
To Sara Preisler, the importance of her collections is in expressing the individual wearer’s spirit and beauty, allowing ownership of something unique and especially part of every one.

View and purchase Sara’s work over on the Plush Jewellery website http://plushjewellery.co.uk/sarapreisler.asp or if you are in the Chichester area pop into Plush Jewellery Chichester to see the work in person.

Are You An Independent Jewellery Designer?

It’s that time of year when we invite submissions from independent jewellery designers who haven’t shown at Plush Jewellery before, to participate in our summer showcases. This year we’re opening up showcase slots from August to October.

The chosen designers will have their work displayed and offered for sale within Plush Jewellery for a period of two months. It’s a perfect opportunity for new designers to get a feel for retail, while getting help and advice from us along the way. For more establish jewellery designers, it provides and opportunity to broaden your stockists.

Your work will also be featured and offered for sale on the Plush Jewellery website alongside the work of the best of British independent jewellery design talent.

Start dates for these showcases are the beginning of August and the beginning of September; with the Vintage at Goodwood festival in August and the Goodwood Revival in September, Chichester will see thousands of faces from outside the area coming into the city at these times.

All of the jewellers featured in this year’s showcase will also have the chance to win a display space during the peak Christmas period. These lucky designers will be chosen based on response and feedback from our customers during their showcase. The chosen designers will be announced in the middle of October – all we would ask is that you have enough work to sell during the peak time.

Showcase space is limited, with only 6 space available and this event is proving ever-more popular, a speedy response is advised.

Interested? Please send a copy of your cv, a selection of images of your work and a copy of your current price list to iwanttobeadesigner@plushjewellery.co.uk

Exciting New Openings in Chichester

We do love a new opening here at Plush Towers and two fantastic new places have opened their doors very near us in Chichester’s East Street in the past couple of days.

Whitewall Galleries opened just before the weekend and I’ve already fallen in love with more art than I have wall space for and, and, and they’ve got a Rolf Harris exhibition soon. Take a peep at the Whitewall Galleries website for more information www.whitewallgalleries.com

The Real Eating Company Cafe opened today, they source food from the best local producers and find top quality hand-made specialities and award winning British products. They’ve not put info about the Chichester cafe on their website yet but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time – take a look at what the Real Eating Company do at www.real-eating.co.uk

Art, cakes, coffee – fantastic. Pop in and see us when you’re in the area.

Chichester Festivities Fringe 1st – 4th July 2010

Chichester Festivities Fringe

Chichester Festivities Fringe

Thank goodness for Twitter, if I hadn’t spotted a tweet this morning, I wouldn’t have known that over this long – and hopefully hot – weekend the city is hosting its very own fringe festival.

While it’s entirely possible that I do indeed wander around the streets of Chichester with my eyes closed and simply haven’t noticed the publicity for these events – or perhaps I was just distracted by noting that Lynda Bellingham is appearing as part of the main Festivities – you too many not have spotted the sheer variety of fringe events going on. If this is the case, I would implore you to download a copy of the programme from http://www.chifest.org.uk/assets/2010/fringe_programme.pdf and get yourself along to an event or two.

EDIT – 7th July

We’re out of Golden Tickets at the moment. Keep an eye on this page and we’ll let you know when we get more in.

EDIT – 3rd August

Well, much to our disappointment, it doesn’t look as if we’re going to be able to lay our hands on any Golden Tickets 😦 I did notice however a voucher in the current edition of the Chichester Obersver that allows you to claim a free Sunday ticket to Vintage at Goodwood when you purchase a Friday or Saturday ticket. Technically, two days for £55, not bad.

Minestrone – The Joy Gallery

Here at Plush Jewellery we’re staunchly behind British artisans, we work with a fantastic collection of Jewellery Designers and makers, so we were over the moon to see the opening of The Joy Gallery in Guildhall Street (literally just off North Street). The Joy Gallery is a platform for artists living and working in the South and there’s still time to catch the opening exhibition Minestrone which runs until the 27th March.
