Here’s One for The Boys – Chris Hawkins Jewellery

Finding jewellery for gentlemen can be a tricky minefield. It can appear that all gents want from jewellery is either a) something Celtic inspired or b) something inspried by surfing. Here at Plush, we know that this isn’t the case and that there are a vast number of men our there who want to wear something that’s been fabulously designed and skillfully made. That’s why we love working with independent jewellery designer Chris Hawkins.

An early interest in sculpture, and a fascination with the miniature led Chris Hawkins into jewellery making. Chris’ work combines the highest level of craftsmanship with a sense of wonder and discovery, as the closer and longer you look, the more you will see. While informed by fashion all pieces by Chris Hawkins are tactile, pleasing to both the hand and eye. In recent years Chris has become increasingly known for, and concentrated on, collections for men. Chris Hawkins was trained in the traditional Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths apprenticeship, spending five years with Jonathan Swan. Chris Hawkins Jewellery carries out in-house design and producion from a converted 19th century coach house in Brighton.

Chris Hawkins Jewellery Corvid Range Crows Cufflinks

Another fanfare of shameless self-promotion for gorgeous things on a Monday but these Chris Hawkins jewellery Corvid range Crows are just too darkly delicious not to mention, nay rave about.

New for winter 2009, Chris Hawkins says of his Corvid range ‘Blackened silver and dark garnets give the collection a distinctly dark feel.’ This gothic collection is inspired by the obsession that the Victorians had with collecting.

The cufflinks each feature a crows head with dark garnet eyes and each is backed with a polished blackened silver bone.

The necklace features a blackened silver crows head hanging from a 20 inch blackened silver chain, he is also available with dark garnet eyes.

A parcel arrived this morning, one of those parcels that makes a Friday in June feel like Christmas Day. It was sent by Chris Hawkins, a jewellery designer of enormous talent and contained pieces from his gents range of jewellery. We’ve been looking for gents jewellery with a difference for a while now and Chris’ pieces tick all our boxes and we know they’ll tick yours too.
